Denuo is the Belgian federation of the waste and recycling sector. In a world where raw materials are becoming scarcer and companies want to produce sustainably, waste and recycling companies are the essential link between used materials and reuse, recycling and final processing.

 

Denuo represents over 250 companies involved in the collection, sorting, processing, and recycling of used materials, soils, and wastewaters. Collectively, these member companies employ around 18,000 people and generate a total turnover exceeding 12 billion euros.

As the umbrella federation, it advocates for a sustainable world where waste is transformed into new opportunities and resources, rather than being viewed as an endpoint. As General Manager at Denuo, you play a pivotal role in realizing their mission: Shaping the future of used materials. You are responsible for the strategic leadership of the federation and for representing the interests of his members.

 

In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of Denuo and collaborate closely with your team to further strengthen and unite the sector. You will build bridges between their members, governments, and other stakeholders to optimize conditions for a sustainable and circular economy. Additionally, you will ensure that Denuo remains a leading voice in both national and international discussions on waste management and recycling.

  • THESE ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS GENERAL MANAGER:

 

  • You will set the strategic direction of the federation in close cooperation with the Governing Body.
  • You provide day-to-day management of the federation and a team of 12 employees, including managing financial, commercial and human resources policies.
  • You support sectoral negotiations with social and other partners to promote the interests of our members.
  • You establish and promote the sustainable role of the waste and recycling sector and translate this into added value.
  • Together with the members, you determine the federation’s priorities.
  • You ensure efficient and effective functioning of the various working groups (called arenas)
  • You act as spokesperson for both the federation and the Belgian waste and recycling sector.

 

 

  • DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A JOB FOR YOU?

  • You have an affinity with the waste and recycling sector and an understanding of the structure of government, especially the environmental sector.
  • You have diplomatic skills and experience in public affairs and conducting negotiations. You can inspire, connect, moderate and organise.
  • You are solution-oriented and have good analytical skills.
  • You have a strong commercial sense and feel comfortable in a networking You show sense of initiative.
  • You have experience in managing a team.
  • You speak and write Dutch, French and English
  • You have strong oral and written skills and good communication skills.
